I know from experience that Organic Chemistry is hands down one of the hardest courses that any of you will ever take in college.  Unfortunately, it is one of those classes that you have to take if you plan on heading to medical school or attaining a degree in Biology.  If your teacher chose to use The Systematic Identification of Organic Compounds, then you will be receiving one of the best textbooks on the subject for your class.

The Systematic Identification of Organic Compounds has received good customer feedback and it is solely dedicated to organic chemistry.

Obviously you won’t learn everything from this textbook because your teacher probably won’t cover every section, but here are some of the main points of interest.

Bottom Line

It’s tough giving pros and cons for a textbook because most of you reading this review will have to order this textbook even if it was terrible – thankfully it’s not.  It now has eight editions at the time of this writing, which brings up a good point.  Make sure you get the right version needed for your class.  Amazon, at the time of this writing, offers 11 formats for this textbook with one dating all the way back to 1956.  Needless to say, it could be easy to purchase the wrong version so watch out for that.
